Office Poke!

Facebook Application for Microsoft Office

After Microsoft Office, what application do office workers use most? The answer is pretty obvious: Facebook. The strategy here was to build awareness of Office 2007 by taking advantage of (1) the rampant 'poking' phenomenon and (2) the shared language of 'real' office behavior. Office Poke! was born.

Instead of traditional pokes like throwing sheep or sending hugs, Office Poke users could do things like steal their coworkers' chairs, send NSFW emails and enjoy 3-martini lunches.

This real-world reinvention of poking quickly took off and became one of the most successful commercial Facebook applications to date. In the first 2 months, 250,000 people installed the application and went on to send over 4 million pokes. Users continue to send over 250,000 pokes per month driving ongoing value for the "campaign."
